CINQUAIN "Taken Over (2026)"

Taken Over (2026)

By Richard H. Fay

Dark thoughts
Never my own
Flood my bedeviled head —
Inhuman intellects control
My mind.

POEM "The Dogman"

The Dogman

By Richard H. Fay

An entity of elemental rage,
A monstrosity neither man nor wolf,
A man with a wolf’s aggressive aspect,
A wolf having a human’s upright stance,
The dogman prowls the darkened countryside.

An animalistic shade of nature,
A spirit of the savage wilderness,
A beast possessing paranormal traits,
A legendary fiend made flesh-and-blood,
The dogman spreads terror across the land.

An incarnation of infinite fears,
A devil sent to harry humankind,
A manifestation of man’s nightmares,
A demonic menace on moonlit nights,
The dogman hunts the woods for mortal prey.

NEW POEM "The Nameless Terror"

The Nameless Terror

By Richard H. Fay

In an unquiet house
Wherein restless wraiths dwelt,
During an uneasy night
When eldritch spectres stirred,
I found my heart tested
By a nameless terror.

As I crossed the threshold
Of my unlit chamber,
My unwelcome presence
Roused an unknown something —
I found myself assailed
By a faceless horror.

A frame of ragged form
Like a tattered black cloak
Swooped downward upon me.
Like a mailed knight of yore
I found the nerve to fight
‘Gainst a peerless rival.

A swirling ebon shape
Surged in my direction,
Then parted around me
Like a substanceless mist —
I found I had stood firm
‘Gainst a bodiless shade.

 Being a Poet Is…

By Richard H. Fay

Being a poet is
A relief and a burden.
Being a poet is
A pleasure and a torment.
Being a poet is
A credit and a disgrace.
Being a poet is
A comfort and an anguish.
Being a poet is
A solace and a distress.
Being a poet is
A delight and a sorrow.
Being a poet is
A calmness and a frenzy.
Being a poet is
A rapture and an ordeal.
Being a poet is
A godsend and a nuisance.
Being a poet is
A glory and a stigma.
Being a poet is
A saneness and a madness.

The Thread of Art

By Richard H. Fay

Art is a multi-colored cord
Winding its way through life,
The weft of the whole cloth
Of each and every human culture.
Art is a polychromatic thread
Woven into society's tapestry,
An integral part of the very being
Of each and every human soul.

Abode of Memories (2026)

by Richard H. Fay

Murmurs
From moments past
Echo in empty rooms;
Voices long silenced inflict pain
once more.

CINQUAIN "Bloody Redcap"

Bloody Redcap

by Richard H. Fay

Gruff dwarf,
Malign goblin,
Hater of humankind,
Spills mortal blood to dye his hat
Bright red.

Poor Pitcher

By Richard H. Fay

Matthew Ball
Ain't on the ball,
His pitches veering
Well outside the box.
Curveballs fly straight,
Sliders never break,
Fastballs fall short,
Knuckleballs spin.

The New Slot Machine

By Richard H. Fay

Come one, come all!

Take your chances

With our image-generating

Algorithm-driven

Slot machine!

Feed in those tokens,

Type in those prompts,

Hope for the best of luck

Against coded randomness.

Ride that dopamine loop

Wishing to grab a few

Variable rewards.

POEM "Prickly Poet"

Prickly Poet

By Richard H. Fay

Being a perversely prickly poet,
So adroit at annoying diverse folks,
I pen plenty of pugnacious poems
Assailing an assortment of archfoes.
A warring wordsmith who e'er wields his pen
Like some viciously bladed vouge of yore,
I wound sundry enemies with my works.

POEM "Kleptocracy"

Kleptocracy

By Richard H. Fay

Flaunt the laws
To fill the personal coffers.
Take all you can
And demolish all the rest.
Enrich oneself
At the expense of others.
Weaken democracy
In the name of selfish gain.
Rape the nation
While letting citizens suffer.
Damn the people
To crushing impoverishment.

POEM "A Caring Visitation"

A Caring Visitation

While abed with the flu,
With blankets flung off,
During what I took to be
Merely a fevered dream,
A familiar silhouette
Of a departed loved one
Appeared at my bedside.

I awoke hot and sweaty
To discover the discarded covers
Had been pulled back over me.

POEM "AI Trolls"

AI Trolls

By Richard H. Fay

Jealous of creative brains and inventive minds,

Resentful of developed virtuosities,

Untalented losers demean those with talent.

Envious of creatives with enduring souls,

Indolent morons insult the truly gifted;

Trolling louts bombard genuine artists with hate.

POEM "I Prevail"

I Prevail

By Richard H. Fay

Others whisper
Contemptible things beside me,
But I abide.

Others direct
Detestable slurs toward me,
But I survive.

Other contrive
Condemnable plots against me,
But I remain.

Others perform
Deplorable deeds around me,
But I persist.

Others hurtle
Abominable barbs about me
But I endure.

Others commit
Despicable acts upon me,
But I prevail.

Others display
A damnable hatred of me,
But I still prevail.

POEM "Green-Eyed AI Bros"

Green-Eyed AI Bros

By Richard H. Fay

Acting jealous of genuine creatives,
Treating creators in a callous fashion,
Failing to respect the concept of consent,
Scraping artists' works out of sheer spite,
Prompting slop-producing AI systems,
Glutting the world with shabby garbage,
AI bros revel in their green-eyed resentment.

Committing invidious acts of incivility,
Exhibiting scorn toward the exploited,
Spreading hellacious hostility and hate,
Fomenting dire disquietude and distress,
Feeding abhorrent algorithmic monstrosities
Producing sundry problematic grotesqueries
AI bros take joy in their jaundiced villainy.

Coveting the able craftsmanship of adepts,
Resenting those with imaginative ideation,
Hoping to propagate defeat and despair,
Dreaming of a technologically-driven Rapture,
Abetting the degradation of human culture,
Propelling society deeper into the abyss,
AI bros delight in their envious evil.

 Wordsmith

By Richard H. Fay

The flame of my creativity
Forms words into poetry.
The hammer of my talent
Shapes lines into artworks.
The spark of my inspiration
Yields artifacts of beauty.
The ingenuity of my mind
Crafts literary treasures.
