Snowflake
By Richard H. Fay
Single flake delicate and white
Possessing precious individuality,
Alone so transient and weak,
With natural geometric beauty
Melted by a warming sunbeam
Or obliterated by a mere breath,
Draw strength from your kind!
Powerful and potent together,
Possessing abilities most dreadful,
You thunder down mountainsides,
Break stout limbs on mighty trees,
Damage human-made dwellings,
Halt human-planned travel,
Or even suffocate and kill!
