Flame Unextinguished

Times this life's struggles
Have become too much,
Thoughts of ending it
Rattled through my head,
But this stubborn soul
Refused to give in.
Times grief has found me
Desirous of death,
Days woes have troubled
This worried spirit,
My flickering flame
Refused to go out.
Times I felt great weight
Bear down upon me,
A flood of ill will
Wash right over me,
My vital spark stayed
Ardently agleam.
