Poem "Mental Unhealth"

New/old poem — a new poem based on an old concept. I completely reworked and rewrote a work I originally penned in high school in the 1980s and created a new version of "Mental Unhealth".

Love the imagery in this one!

Mental Unhealth

Non-spectral colors and non-Euclidean shapes
Swirl inside my troubled head
Morphing into flowers of intangible form.

Outlandishly wild scenes and feral fantasies
Play out in a fevered mind
Assaulted by waking dreams of no real context.

Polka-dot clouds lacking any silver linings
Scud through my shattered brain
Carrying rationality off with the wind.

Dazzling bright lights flashing in dizzying patterns
Scramble my splintered wits
As my battered soul wanders off toward the stars.
