Yet Another Early Poem of Mine: "Goodbye"

I can't even remember now when I first wrote this one, but I do know it was among the batch I sent out in the early 90s. 'Twas never published in a zine.

I stupidly didn't record the details of the image I used for the background above, but I know I obtained it from Pixabay.

Goodbye

Raindrops pelt the windowpane,
Tracing mirrored silver lines
Like the sorrowed tracks of tears.

Taillights glitter in the dark
As you pull away from me;
Love lost to the raging storm.

Thunder rolls like a drumbeat,
Following the shouts and sobs;
Stubborn pride now turns to pain.

Lightning reveals a sad face
Pressed against the murky glass,
Braced against the bitter truth:

Goodbye's too late for sorry.
