Poem "Stubborn Resistance"
Stubborn Resistance
By Richard H. Fay
When the state of the world drags me down,
When I feel as if I’ve had it with life,
When I just want to give up and give in,
A stalwart stubbornness steels my soul.
When the barbed remarks wound my heart,
When I hear insults flung in endless streams,
When I grow weary of a society gone mad,
My proud perseverance bolsters my stance.
When the appointed leaders fail to lead,
When I’m fed up with the division and strife,
When I’ve had enough of the constant lies,
A headstrong obstinance holds my course.
When the entire planet seems to burn,
When I think our apocalypse has come,
When I believe death’s hand draws near,
My dogged resistance keeps me strong.
Resist, or die!
Resist, and live!
