Poem "Who is a Poet, What is a Poet?"
Who is a Poet, What is a Poet?
By Richard H. Fay
A poet pens poetry,
Translating feelings into verse.
A poet creates art,
Painting notions using words.
A poet crafts works
Touching their readers’ souls.
A poet provides sustenance
Nourishing the spirit.
A poet speaks of life
So others may better their lot.
A poet speaks of death
So others may survive their grief.
A poet shares sadness
So others may endure pain.
A poet shares gladness
So others may receive joy.
A poet pours out their heart
Onto a blank page.
A poet bleeds out their life
Into their creations.
A poet is a beacon
Shining in the dark.
A poet is a human
Doing human things.
